Sushi Training at The Savoy Hotel

savoy hotel chef“My chefs truly enjoyed the experienced with the sushi training , they said that it was very helpful and more important to understand the basics and history behind every detail of sushi and Japanese cuisine, they loved the way The Sushi School’s Chef explained the whole sushi training and finding it very interesting and supportive in every step of the course.
They have also expressed that with this training they can definitely start  to work in the sushi station here at the hotel and feel more confident with the preparation.
Please be kind to send my regards to your Sushi Chef as I was not here the second day of the training and I appreciated that my chefs enjoyed his mentoring and passion for sushi here at the hotel.
Definitely if a new the opportunity arise to train my chefs or I know any other chef colleague who wants to have a training about sushi, I will definitely refer to you as I believe it was remarkable for our chefs.

Francisco Hernandez, Executive Sous Chef at The Savoy

The Savoy Hotel is a luxurious hotel located in the heart of London, next to the river Thames and in the famous London theatre area for the last 120 years. With a prestigious architecture, this mystical and historical hotel perpetuating excellence for an elite.

Closed in 2007 the Savoy Hotel re-opened it’s doors in 2009 with almost 200 million pounds injected into the project and a great mix of decorative art and Edouard VII style, created by the french designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. Inside of the Savoy Hotel you will find three 4 stars restaurants where you can fine dine at the same time as Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra or yet Marilyn Monroe.

The Savoy Hotel has chosen The Sushi School to train their six chefs, the art and discipline of japanese culinary, history and sushi skills, thanks to our well trained chefs and their sushi knowledge. They have chosen to learn about sushi so that they can integrate into their restaurant, a sophisticated gastronomical and Japanese sushi menu for their clients.

The training that they choose took place over two days, and during these couple of days our well experienced sushi chef tackled all the basics of japanese culinary skills, all the history behind each product being used in their kitchen or recipes. Over these couple of days the Savoy hotel’s chefs created their own recipes, using all the information and skills our chef had shown them so that they are able to open a small sushi restaurant in the hotel to combine both gastronomical cuisine and traditional Japanese sushi handled by chef Auguste Escoiffier.

Justin is a young and very successful private chef.

He works on one of the top biggest private boat on this planet and has to impress guests everyday! Everything is about healthy food for him and he wanted to learn a lot…and he did very quickly!

He flew from Italy where the boat was  and into London for the 2 days intensive training of Sushi making.  Because each training has usually 2 students to one chef, everyone can really focus on what they need to learn and even a beginner will learn a lot in no time. Justin wanted to concentrate on high end Sushi as well as fusion sushi top please the eyes as well as the palate. He was very skilled at fish handling…you would expect that from a chef living on a boat i guess!

Manu, Wei and James were a great team, passing on there years of experience and enthusiasm. I’m a professional chef who caters to high end clients on private yachts. I learnt how to make best quality Sushi and Sashimi and the best techniques of traditional and fusion. I will never look at Sushi the same way again.
